Preface

New College of Arts, Paranda, run by Shri. Bhavani Shikhsan Prasarak Mandal,Tuljapur was established in the year June1986 by Late Shikshan Maharshi R. G. Shinde Guruji. Paranda taluka was one of the most under privileged and neglected in respect of the higher education. After the sad demise of Late Mr. R. G. Shinde Guruji on 23rd April 2005, the management decided to change the name of the college as “Shikshan Maharshi Guruvarya R. G. Shinde Mahavidyalaya”. Till 1986 students, especially girl students from this taluka had to go outstation for the higher education or had to remain deprived from the same. The college has been established in the adverse conditions with the objectives of “Where there is a need, there is education” and “Education for poor students”. Science faculty was started in 2004 as an undergraduate on non-grant basis and later it was Granted by U.G.C’ in 2009, with affiliation to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. Post Graduate was started in 2019 as on non-grant basis. In 2007 there was only one faculty member to run the department later now 02 Teaching staff 01 Lab assistant and 2 lab assistant were appointed as regular staff. Today our department is well fulfilled with qualified staff.

About Botany Department

The department of Botany was established in 2004 as an undergraduate department and later, Granted in 2009, with affiliation to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. Post Graduate was started in 2019 as on non-grant basis. The department has excellent infrastructure facilities and expert staff members in different fields of Plant Sciences. Botany is a sought after subject with vast employment potential both in the Academic and Research fields.

The aim of the Department of Botany is to produce highly qualified botanists who have a broad knowledge of modern and applied plant science and excellent career prospects.

OBJECTIVES

1. The Department also undertakes fundamental and applied research in plant science and field visits to explore floral wealth and to establish the intricate relations of plant and environment.

2. Develop knowledge of the life cycle, reproductive, structural, chemical, evolutionary, and anatomical characteristics of photosynthetic and fungal phylla.
